Get notified when you miss a meeting call
Now, if someone tries to add you during a meeting and you miss it, you'll get a notification in your activity feed. You'll be told who tried to add you, and if the meeting is still happening, you can jump in, right from the activity feed.
Receive Teams calls on multiple devices
You can now set a device as a secondary ringer, so it'll ring when you get an incoming call. And you can answer incoming calls on any device connected to your Teams account—not just the ones that ring.
Join a meeting in Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox
With new meeting join capabilities, those using Internet Explorer 11, Safari, and Firefox browsers can jump right into a Teams Meeting and participate in it. Meeting audio is provided by Audio Conferencing, so meeting organizers will need the respective license. More details for admins.

Meet now. No invite required
For when you need to start an online meeting right now. Skip scheduling the invite and go straight to into a meeting. All you need to do is go to Calendar on the left side of Teams, then select Meet now in the top right corner and add the people to the meeting.
Chrome now has calling!
If you're using Teams on the web, you can now add Google Chrome to your list of browsers that now support making calls from your web browser. If you're on Chrome, try it out today. Go to Calls on the left side of Teams, or type /call in the command bar at the very top of Teams.
Turn down the noise in channels
Now, just like in chat, you can mute a conversation in a channel. Alternatively, when you want to follow a conversation in a channel you've hidden from your list, all you need to do is turn on notifications. You'll get notified of any activity on that specific conversation, but not the entire channel activity.
To access the notification settings for a conversation, go to the original post and select More options > Turn off notifications/Turn on notifications.

Filter all the things!
Filter more than your activity with the new filters added in Chat and Teams. In chat, type a person's name to filter for every group, meeting, or one-on-one chat you have with them. Then, select More options to add more filters—like unread messages. Or type a keyword to filter by group chats that have names. Similarly, filter your teams list by typing a keyword to find a specific team or channel by name.
If you're a seasoned user of the filters in your activity feed and looking for your list of message types, go to Activity, select > More options . Or type a keyword to find a specific message.
Import a schedule into the Shifts app
The Shifts app now allows you to import an existing schedule from Excel. Put your schedule into an Excel spreadsheet following the sample file instructions, then follow the directions at Import a schedule into Shifts, to start managing all your shifts from Teams.

Focus time, sans the interruptions
Teams and MyAnalytics pair up to help you find time to focus on your work. Now, when you book focus time in Outlook using the MyAnalytics add-in, Teams will automatically set your presence to Do Not Disturb. We'll hold your notifications while you work, then send them to you once your focus time ends.
Channel moderators—now in Teams
Assign individuals in your team to be moderators for specific channels. Whether it's keeping the discussion on the topic at hand, or helping answer questions during live events, put your moderators to use. Read up on what all a moderator can do for you.

More than an agenda view, you now get a weekly view of your schedule with the new calendar. Go to the left side of Teams and select Calendar to check it out for yourself.
Miss the agenda view? Select the menu in the top right corner of your calendar and choose Day to focus on one day at a time.

Ring, ring! Dial any number from anywhere in Teams
At the top of the Teams app, type /call in the command box and press Enter, then type the number you wish to call. Press Enter again, and Teams will start ringing the number.
Channel notifications replace Followon desktop
Teams is giving you even more control of what notifications you get from channels. To change the notification settings, go to the channel and select More options > Channel notifications. Learn how to adjust your settings.
Navigation made easier in the new Teams for EDU grid view

Set the priority of your message
Need to get someone's attention? Mark your message as Important. This will place a red exclamation point in the message and in the activity feed.
Is it really important? Set it as Urgent. This will alert the recipient every two minutes for twenty minutes, or until they read the message, whichever comes first. To change the priority, select ! under your compose box.
All your meeting controls in one place
Everything you need in a meeting now resides in the control bar. You'll find your meeting chat and participants have moved here. And full screen, notes, settings, and meeting details are now in More options . Check out the image below to find your way around the new control bar.

Share instantly with Teams on Chrome
If you're joining Teams meetings online using Chrome, you can now instantly share your screen without any plug-ins or extensions—no matter what operating system you use. Try it out in your next meeting. Enjoy!
Testing, testing 1, 2, 3
Test your video and audio settings and make sure you're coming in crystal clear. To make a test call in Teams, type /testcall in the command box at the very top of the app and press Enter, or go to your profile pic > Settings > Devices > Make a test call. Listen to the instructions and wait for the beep, then talk to your heart's content. Once you're done you can listen to your message and make any adjustments necessary. Test calling is currently only available in English. Other languages coming soon!
Send an invite link to join Teams free
Create an invite link to invite people to join your org on Teams free via the app of your choice. When they click on the link they'll be sent to a webpage to request to join your org—so you know exactly who's using the link to join. The team owner can deactivate the link or create a new one at any time. To invite someone select Invite people at the bottom of your teams list or chat list, then choose Copy link.

Zoom into the action
Need a closer look during a meeting? Now you can zoom into presentations and video during meetings to get a better look. To try it out in your next meeting, press Ctrl+ to zoom in and Ctrl- to zoom out. Or hold Ctrl and scroll with your mouse.
Group chat—now with 100 people!
Group chat size has increased from 50 members to 100. Group video, screen sharing, and calls are still limited to groups of 20 or fewer. The chat history and privacy are still all there. So go ahead, start planning that surprise office party with the new, bigger group chat.
New ways to invite people to Teams free
Now you can invite people to join your Teams free org directly from your Microsoft account. When you invite your Microsoft contacts, Teams will send them an invitation email. Select Chat or Teams on the left side of the app, then select Invite people at the bottom of the app to start inviting.

Windows 10 in S-Mode gets the Teams app
The Teams desktop app is now available to people using Windows 10 in S-Mode. Download the app directly from the Teams website or search 'Microsoft Teams download' in your web browser.
Remove people from group chat
Now you can add and remove people from a chat to manage who's in the conversation. To remove someone, go to the participants list at the top of the chat and select the X by the person's name you want to remove.

Show and hide teams to stay organized
What used to be Favorite and Remove from favorites is now Show and Hide. Choose which teams and channels you want to show in your teams list and hide the rest. You'll still get notified when @mentioned, they just won't clutter your teams list.
To try it out, go to a team or channel name in your teams list and select More options > Hide. Want to get a team back in your list? Scroll to the bottom and open the Hidden teams list.
OneDrive in Teams got a makeover
Now you can automatically sync to OneDrive and view who you've shared your files with in Teams. We've also added sorting and filtering to help you find that file you're looking for.
To find all your files, go to Files on the left side of Teams, then select OneDrive, select a column header and select Filter to narrow down to a specific file type, modified date, and more.

Request to add others to private teams
Now you can request on behalf of someone else to join a private team. Right-click on a team name, and select Add member. Search for people by name or email. Team owners will get a notification that they have a new request, and people you've added will get a notification once they've been added to the team.

From mobile, open a conversation, tap and hold the mic in the bottom right corner of your screen and start recording. Record up to 15 minutes, then tap Send to deliver your audio message.
Shifting gears
Teams is bringing support to the world of shift workers with the new Shifts app. Managers can streamline scheduling, employees can keep track of their shifts, update their availability, request time off, swap or offer their shift, and check off their assigned tasks during their shift. Admins, check out how to turn on the Shifts app for your org.
Share your screen, add your voice
Now while sharing your screen in a group or 1:1 chat you're able to add audio at any time. In the top right of your chat select , and once the others in your chat accept the screen share, select Let's talk to start talking.

Can the spam
We've got your back with the new blocked calls feature, currently available to Enterprise Voice customers. To try it out, hop on over to your call history, right click an external phone number, and select Block. To manage the list of blocked numbers—including un-blocking someone—select your profile picture > Settings > Blocked calls.

Hello, is it me you're looking for?
Now when someone from your personal contact list calls you in Teams, Caller ID displays their name along with their phone number. This goes for call history and voicemail, too. To use this feature you'll need to save people to your contacts list in Teams: Calls > Contacts > Add a contact.

Blurred background, focused meeting
Eliminate potential distractions from your video calls and keep the focus on you with background blur. Once you're in a meeting, select More options > Blur my background. You'll appear nice and clear while everything behind you is subtly concealed. It's currently available in the desktop app for most newer PC's. To find out if it's available on your device, select More options in a meeting. If Blur my background appears in the menu, then you're in business. Stay tuned for more device availability.
Note: Background blurring might not prevent sensitive information from being visible to other meeting participants.

Take private notes and get the whole picture with the new Wiki app
Now you can access your own private wiki and channel wiki pages in one place—the new Wiki app! Find it by selecting More apps on the left side of Teams, then Wiki. In the app, keep your own private notes on the Personal tab, see all the wiki pages you're a part of on the All tab, or get back to ones you've used recently on the Recent tab.
Add info to your wiki from anywhere in Teams
A whiz-bang way to get a note into your personal wiki. In the command box at the top of Teams, type /wiki, then press Enter and type your note. Press Enter again when you're finished and the note will go right to the Personal tab in the Wiki app.

The more, the merrier in meetings
You can now have up to 250 participants in meetings! All the video, audio, and screen sharing you're used to in smaller meetings works for these larger meetings, too. Just right for that quarterly all-hands get-together.
PowerPoint in meetings just got better
Sharing a presentation gets some special treatment with these improvements. When you share just a PowerPoint file, it uses less bandwidth than a video stream—so if you've got bandwidth constraints, this is a great option. Participants can navigate through the slides privately, reading ahead or looking back to catch something they missed. Read more here.
Bring your Skype for Business contacts to Teams
When your organization moves from Skype for Business to Teams, your contacts will make the move with you. To see them, once you're in Teams, click Chat on the left, then Contacts at the top.
Translate chat messages
The world is our workplace here at Teams, so we're loving this feature. At the top of a message, select More options > Translate to get an instant translation of the message into the language you've set for Teams! Très cool.
(If you don't see this option, talk to your admin. They may need to turn it on.)
Send code snippets in a message
You're now able to create and share a snippet of code right in a chat or channel message. Get syntax highlighting, auto-indentation, and text wrapping control, all in the programming language of your choice! To try it, look under the compose box, then select Format > Code snippet .

Join a team with a code
Send people a code to join your team—you won't have to approve every request! (For team owners only.) Next to a team name, click More options > Manage team. Select the Settings tab > Team code > Generate. Tell people to click Join or create a team at the bottom of their teams list, then plug the code into the Join a team with a code box at the top. This works with public and private teams.
Get important notifications while in Do not Disturb mode
Even when you need to set your status to Do not disturb, there are still some calls and 1:1 chats you don't want to miss. You can now give priority access to certain people or numbers, from bosses to besties. This means you'll get notifications about calls and 1:1 chats from these people while you're set to Do not disturb. To set it up, click your profile pic > Settings > Privacy and follow the prompts.
Easier updates for Macs
Once you move to this new type of installation for Teams on your Mac, you won't have to enter your admin credentials every time you get the latest and greatest updates for Teams. (The new installation uses a PKG file, and it replaces the earlier DMG installation format.) Also, admins can move to PKG for improved handling of Teams on Mac in managed deployments. Archive your team for posterity
Need to put a team into storage? If you've got a team that's inactive, but you want to keep it around for reference or to reactivate in the future, try the new archive and restore feature. The conversations and files in a team become read-only once you archive it. You'll still be able to search through it for stuff you need—you can even keep it as a favorite. Only team owners can archive and restore teams.
